Italian Renaissance Art
The phrase "Renaissance man" describes someone who is a
master of many subjects, and for good reason - many artists who
worked during this fruitful were equally proficient architects,
designers, painters, and sculptors. A splendid example of this is
Michelangelo, who excelled at artistic pursuits in a number of
media.
Leonardo da Vinci
The definition of Renaissance man, Leonardo's studies of
anatomy, science, and were revolutionary. As well paintings such as
the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper, Leonardo also invented the
parachute and tanks as well as discovering heart disease!
Raphael
The golden boy of High Renaissance painting, Raphael produced a
series of Madonna and Child images that still leave viewers
breathless today. Raphael also painted such majestic works as
Galatea and The School of Athens.
Michelangelo
Talented and tireless artist Michelangelo created what is widely
acknowledged as one of the finest masterpieces of the Renaissance -
the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
The monumental marble statue of David is truly a legendary work,
representing the noble and idealized aspirations of Renaissance
art, and it is but one of the sculptures that Michelangelo created
during his brilliant artistic career.
