Farsi Translation
Farsi (or Persian) is an official language of Iran, Afghanistan
and Tajikistan, and has around 56 million native speakers. Your
Farsi translation will be completed by an experienced Farsi
translator based in the relevant country in which your translated
text will be read. This policy ensures you get the best quality
translation most suitable for your target audience.
Farsi Localization
The first and most important thing to bear in mind for Farsi
translation, localization and DTP is that Farsi script is read from
right to left. When designing page layouts and screen designs, bear
in mind how the Farsi reader will look at the page. Where a Western
reader would read a web page or newspaper in an F shaped pattern, a
Farsi reader would read in an inverted pattern.
Even when software providers localize their product into Farsi
they often fail to fully localize for the Farsi user. Dropdown
menus are a common example of this, where for Western users a menu
on the left of the screen opening out to the right follows their
natural reading pattern. However, Farsi users find these menus
difficult to use as they do not follow their natural reading
pattern.
English to Farsi Translation
The written English language often contains long sentences with
many clauses whereas this is not characteristic of Farsi. A good
translator will often have to reorder and restructure sentences to
make the translation smooth and understandable to the Farsi
reader.
Another difference in sentence structure is that Farsi follows
the Subject Object Verb (SOV) sentence order along with many Middle
Eastern languages. English follows the Subject Verb Object Format
(SVO). In its simplest form an English sentence "bat hits ball"
would need to be reordered by the translator so the Farsi
translation would read "bat ball hits".
