How Green is Your Translation?
The environment is something we take very seriously at Applied
Language Solutions. So seriously in fact, that we are the only
translation and interpreting agency in the world to be accredited
with ISO 14001 for Environmental Management.
Paperless Office
We have as near as possible paperless offices at all our sites
around the world. All our staff are provided with laptop computers
and communicate using phone, email and internet. We don't even have
a traditional paper fax machine as we receive all our faxes
digitally and store them on our servers.
We go to extremes to ensure that only documents that really need
printing are printed. One measure we take is to only have one
printer in each office, which is located as far away as possible
from staff. The walk to the printer discourages printing!
If documents really do have to be printed then we encourage our
staff to use the duplex option, which means that both sides of the
paper are used.
Internet Meetings and Demonstrations
To save on fuel consumption and cut carbon emissions, wherever
possible we hold meetings over the internet. The internet
technology we use means that you can see exactly what's on our
computers. It's a great way to let you know all about us or
demonstrate our web services. The internet meetings also allow us
to have meetings with people who may be in different parts of the
world, without the need for air travel.
Re-cycling Points in Every Office
Each office has plenty of paper only bins which make sure that
there is no excuse for not re-cycling paper waste. The same goes
for any glass, plastic and other re-cycleable materials.
Carbon Neutral Future
In the coming years we'll be making strides to become as carbon
neutral as possible and minimise our impact on the world.
